Feltman's hot dogs are back in Coney Island! Invented by Charles Feltman in 1867, it was the first hot dog to be placed on a bun, giving beachgoers a convenient way to eat a German sausage without plates or utensils. The original Feltman's closed in 1954. But today it is back in its original location on Surf Avenue at the entrance to Luna Park and just steps from the Thunderbolt.

Owner Michael Quinn, a local historian, is the force behind reviving the brand and the business with the help of his younger brother. We found folks lining up to catch a bite. Feltman's signature hot dog is topped with sauerkraut, chopped onions and spicy mustard. A Chili Dog is also offered along with the "Al Capone," which comes with with vodka sauce and grated Parmesan cheese. You can also design your own. Feltman's hot dogs have an excellent "snap" when you bite into one and go well with the stand's crispy hand-cut fries.

With Nathan's just two blocks away, you can expect a new Summer rivalry in Coney!
