The Nomad Tea Parlour has the look and feel of a place that has been around for ages. Resembling a Chinese Night Market, there are signs for things like Hong Kong Soy Sauce lit up across the bar and side tables covered with an outdoor awning. It’s designed to transport you back to the streets of China and it works. Guests will also find a bustling cocktail bar and balcony seating above.
Both the Cantonese style food and drinks are well thought out a step above making this spot worthy of a visit. We sampled the Just A Lychee Martini which was neither cloyingly sweet or perfumy. Instead, it was delightfully refreshing and difficult to stop at just one. Other drinks come with names like Doctors Orders, Cloud Connected, Orange Sky and Plum Spritz.
There are a number of small plates for sharing. Think Sticky Ribs, Dan Dan Noodle, and Crab Rangoon. Assorted dim sum brings delicious Chili Wontons, Crab & Pork Soup Dumplings and Fortune Custard Buns. Larger plates include Chungking Soft Shell Crab with a mixed spice marmalade; Walnut Shrimp, crispy large prawns in a sweet cream; and Night Market Clams, wok tossed with black bean sauce. There are other offerings like spicy General Tso’s Chicken, and Plum Sauce Roast Duck, as well as assorted noodle dishes.
