Northern Tiger at Brookfield Place is bringing the comfort foods of northern China to New York City. Dumplings, grilled or steamed, are stuffed with heritage pork & chive or Long Island duck & leek. There's also a veggy version. Dumplings are sold in sets of six for eight dollars and are served with a spicy chili sauce.

Noodles are also big here. Beijing Zha Jiang Mian combines heritage pork with soybean, cucumber and radish. There are soups; one made with braised beef and another with a lamb bone broth. Smashed cucumber salad comes with peanuts, tofu and cilantro while a chrysanthemum salad gets a splash of kambucha vinaigrette. A weekly flavor of soft-serve ice cream is also being served. At the time of this writing it was malted milk. Enjoy.
