Oldies from the team behind Angel’s Share, a popular speakeasy in Manhattan, is now open at Industry City. Located on 36th Street near 3rd Avenue, Oldies looks like it’s been there forever. There are beamed ceilings with exposed wood, a welcoming bar with copper top, and subway tiles giving it a clean look. Oldies is specializing in fresh fruit cocktails made with strawberry, pineapple, yuzu and persimmon. Highballs with Japanese Suntory Toki Whisky are also available. The Ume Plum is quite refreshing. Visitors will also find classic cocktails like martinis, Manhattans, gimlets and sidecars along with a nice selection of sake, Japanese beers and ciders. Bar food here is just as satisfying. Look for oysters on the half shell topped with scallion, grated daikon and homemade punzu; fluke crudo with yuzo peel and miso; fried squid legs with chili pepper & garlic; and Japanese fried chicken, called karaage, made with sake and brown sugar. At Oldies, get ready to expect the unexpected. It's worth the trip!
