Simplicity is key at Omakase Room by Maaser on Bleecker Street in the West Village. The chefs fly in fresh fish that is “hand-picked” from Tokyo three times a week. The Edomae style being used is the simplest form of sushi making using techniques such as aging, charcoal grill and smoking. Two types of omakase are offered; 12 pieces for $75 and 17 pieces for $115. The simplicity also extends to the space itself with a blond wood sushi bar overlooking an open kitchen where you can catch the chefs in action. Reservations are strongly recommended.
