Cititour Review:
Opened by the team behind The Irving Mill, the restaurant's easy-to-navigate menu makes it an ideal spot for group dining and sharing of small plates. Start off with a selection of meats (3 for $16) and cheeses (3 for $14). A selection of small plates of vegetables ranging from olives to eggplant or roasted beets and pecorino are a nice compliment to the meats and cheeses. The Bruschette offerings are simply delicious and great to share with a group. It was hard to choose from all the flavors. At a price of 4 for $10 it's hard to resist sampling a few, such as the Caponata and goat cheese, truffled egg or ricotta with pesto. With their wood-burning ovens serving as a main draw to the spot, the pizza is a definite must-try. From the funghi misti with mozzarella, mushrooms and truffle oil ($12) to the classic Margherita ($11), the pizza is fresh out of the oven and delicious. The pasta offerings stick to the classics: spaghetti pomodoro ($10), lasagne ($12), house-made ravioli ($11), plus a few more options. For second courses, the restaurant sticks to its simplistic approach and has just a few select options, all fresh and delicious still: a wood-fire roasted chicken ($16), roasted pork chop ($19), grilled skirt steak ($19) and grilled trout ($17). Sides of broccoli rabe or truffled fries provide the perfect compliments to the entree of choice.
A friendly wait staff, great wine selection and outdoor tables make Osteria Cotta a great spot to gather for a group dinner or a quick glass of wine and small bite after a day of shopping on the Upper West Side.
