Now you can eat and cut your carbon footprint at the same time.

Otarian is a fast-food spot with a mission.  Everything in the restuarnat, including tables and chairs, are made from recycled materials.  And all of the packaging, including the plastic cups, are compostable. 

There are fresh salads like the one with roasted vegetables and couscous, and tomato, mozzarella and avocado salad served with a pesto dressing.   You'll also find burgers and wraps.  We tried the Texmex Burger ($7.95) which arrived with a thick bean patty, lots of cheddar topped with guacamole.  It's served on a seeded wheat bun and is quite good with a side of sweet potato chiplets.  And while we were there, we reduced our carbon footprint by .98 kg.  

Otarian is also offering up what it calls "hearties". Dishes like roasted vegetable lasagna ($9.95) and noodles in a red curry sauce ($8.95). For dessert there's apple crumble and an egg-free chocolate cake.

There's something nice about knowing that a restaurant is cooking up a healthy planet along with profits.
