Cititour Review:

Next time you're in Harlem looking for a place that offers both inside and outside dining, a casual place to enjoy happy hour drinks, and get a bite to eat, be sure to stop by Ottomanelli Wine & Burger Bar at 1325 Fifth Ave. on the corner of 111th Street.  Established in 1990, Ottomanelli's offers a casual dining experience and a great selection of burgers.

Being that Ottomanelli's pride themselves in their burgers I had to try one of the eleven burger options that they offer. Due to the fact that I very rarely eat beef, it was somewhat of an easy decision for me to go with "The CLASSIC Turkey Burger" ($9.95), served with either seasoned waffle fries or a simple salad of arugula and apples. I was pretty hungry so I decided to go with the waffle fries. Besides, who can pass up waffle fries?  A few of the other choices of burgers included the "VIP Burger" ($9.95) which is topped with sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, and provolone cheese, the "Three CHEESE Burger" (American, Cheddar & Provolone) and the South of the Border Burger which is topped with avocado, jalapenos and monterey jack cheese.  And if you're a vegan Ottomanelli's has a "Grilled Portobello Burger" ($9.95) as an option.  An FYI on the burgers - according to their menu, they only cook their burgers to one temperature - "Juicy"!

When my meal arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the burger which was served on  a brioche bun with a side of cranberry ketchup.  Although I was just a little disappointed at the amount of waffle fries that I received, I was happy that they were nice and hot and well seasoned.  And the cranberry ketchup was so good I generously used it for both my burger and waffle fries.  The burger was tasty but I thought it could've been just a little more seasoned; however, this is a "to each his own" type of thing, so I am sure there are people who would've been satisfied with the burger just the way it was.

The inside of  Ottomanelli's is nice and spacious with a small bar hiding in the back and plenty of seating for those who chose not to dine outside.  On the day I visited, three large flat screens hanging on opposite walls gave visitors a chance to check out the soccer game as a diverse selection of music quietly played on the jukebox.  According to a handwritten message on a small chalkboard, the Wine & Burger Bar has a happy hour during the week from 3pm - 7pm serving up drinks like Margaritas, Appletini's, Cosmopolitan's, Bloody Mary's and Malibu Rum Punch.

Not in the mood for a burger? Ottomanelli's also serves three types of steak dinners ranging in price from $14.75 to $16.75, entrees like penne ala vodka and fettuccini alfredo, and appetizers like bonless wingdings ($6.95), popcorn shrimp ($6.95) and grilled or fried calamari ($7.95).  Ottomanelli's also serves dessert, red velvet double chocolate cheesecake.

So, if you're in the neighborhood and are looking for a comfortable spot with a friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced food, definitely check out Ottomanell Bros. Wine & Burger Bar.
