Plaka Taverna seems like it's been around forever and it still holds some Greek surprises. While most gravitate to the shish kebabs, falafel and gyros (which are quite good), it is worth digging deeper into the menu to find some treasures like grilled octopus with is perfectly prepared and requires just a splash of lemon. The portion is also quite large. If you’re willing to get your hands dirty go for the quail. A plate of six pieces comes with a small Greek salad. Other dishes include flaming cheese, called Saganaki, sausages named Loukaniki, and Greek specialties like Spanakopita. The restaurant itself has a no frills, diner feel with its blue checkerboard tableclothes. But it's the Greek flavors that continue to draw people in.
