All of the sudden Midtown is fast-becoming a food mecca with the arrivals of Betony and Quality Italian. Run by the same folks behind Quality Meats, this spot delves deeply into Italian classics using hand-selected meats from some of New York's oldest and most respected butchers. Start with some sausage & pepper garlic toast ($13) or maybe grilled octopus saltimbocca with prosciutto and chick pea salad ($15). Pastas include handmade corn gnudi with pistachio ($15) and dry-aged porterhouse agnolotti ($17). Main dishes run the gamut from chicken parmigiana for two to a veal chop Milanese and fresh Maine lobster diavolo. Already, this corner spot overlooking 57th Street and 6th Avenue is drawing lots of welcomed attention with some blogs already calling it the uptown Carbone.
