Cititour Review:

You can tell when a restaurant has heart, and in this case, both heart and soul. I'm talking about Sadie Mae's Cafe, in Park Slope, run by Dianne Brown, a gracious host, who really knows how to make you feel like family. The restaurant itself, with its exposed brick and crystal chandaliers, has a warm and inviting feel. But it's the food that we were interested in, in particular, the fried chicken. Be prepared to wait a bit, because everything is made fresh, and you'll be properly rewarded. What arrived was plate piled high with chicken, crispy and golden brown on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. This mass sat atop a pool of creamy grits, that Dianne cooked up special, and some delicious sweet potatoes. While it could easily have fed two, and probably should have, I managed to clean my plate along with a tall glass of ice cold lemonade that was perfect on a warm summer day. You'll also find soul food on the menu like chittlings and collard greens. Unfortunately, I had no more room left for the signiture sweet potato pie, but that gives me an excuse to return to Sadie Mae's, and this time I'll bring the family.
