Details:
Sen Sakana is the sexy Midtown restaurant specializing in modern Nikkei cuisine inspired by Japanese immigrants who traveled to Peru in the 1800s. The result is a diverse cuisine celebrating both cultures. Sen Sakana, which means "one thousand fish" in Japanese, is a tribute to many different species of fish found in Peruvian waters. It is reflected in executive chef Mina Newman's menu which includes an excellent ceviche made with corvina in aji lime juice and Leche de Tigre; Harumaki with spicy tuna and yuzu scallop in crispy shells with guacamole; traditional anticuchos made with marinated beef heart and Jalea, a mix of crispy seafood with salsa criolla and aji amarillo tartare sauce. Other dishes include Peruvian cheese wrapped in pork belly, a Washu skirt steak with tacu tacu, and deep-fried black feather chicken with quinoa and black vinegar sauce. An omakase of classic nigiri-style sushi is also available along with a full Nikkei tasting menu and pre-theater prix fixe menu. Gratuity included.
