Sing Choi Kee, Sing for short, is what’s known as a Cha Chaan Teng representing post-World War II British culture that as adopting in Hong Kong.  They are known for milk teas and pineapple buns.

At Sing (182 Bleecker St near MacDougal) they take the concept a step further with a series of bear beverages.  Flavored bear-shaped ice cubes show up on top drinks ranging from the Little Bear with Coconut Latte to the Blue Curacao Bear with a splash of 7-Up. The blue bears sings in this super sweet, and super instagrammable drink.

A signature dish is the Slippery Egg. It’s a loose scrambled egg placed atop a bed of rice with choice of beef with spicy sauce; shrimp with light soy; and a Malaysian-style curry fried chicken chop. It’s quite tasty and won’t break the bank.  You can gauge the level of slipperiness.

Other offerings include several pasta dishes like beef with black bean and Abalone & Seafood Rice Noodle Soup. Smaller plates bring deep fried shumai, fried yuntun (wontons), fish balls with curry sauce served fondue style and crispy Chinese sausage.

From the bakery there is Hong Kong-style French Toast (traditional or with strawberry dust), and pineapple buns served simply with butter or filled with ice cream. Sing definitely caters to a younger crowd with crowd-pleasing dishes worth exploring.
