SLIDE is a full-service New American restaurant. Our cozy dining room showcases original local artwork. It has French doors that open up to our beautiful tropical back garden which includes outdoor seating. Voted the nicest garden by New York Magazine it has a cascading waterfall, a rock wall lined with ivory and a Koi fishpond. It is ideal for lunch, brunch, private events, a family dinner or a romantic night out. Our bar area offers happy hour and has wooden French doors that open up to the street. We offer a full wine list, specialty cocktails, beers from local & international breweries as well as the finest whiskeys & gins. We also offer a gourmet selection of shakes that can include alcohol or be ordered virgin. We cater any event, big or small. Along with our delicious menu of appetizers, entrees & sides we specialize in gourmet sliders with international inspired flavors. We have wild creations that make use of items like BBQ pork belly, fried chicken with cheddar waffles, lamb, smoked duck, veal, crab cake, pink peppercorn tuna, baby Portobello mushrooms and many more choices. And of course we serve a classic beef slider made with a top-secret meat blend from Pat LaFrieda. Sliders come three to an order, presented on a custom-made wooden cutting board with cylinders cut out to hold each individual mini burger. Order a variety and go with a group, as the sliders are best when they are shared.Cititour Review:
Slide in the Village is devoted almost entirely to sliders. But this is no ordinary burger joint. Here all sorts of sliders are served in sets of three, like the Classic with Manchego cheese and caramelized onions ($15) and the popular Pork Belly with Monterey Jack, pickled onion and fried brussel sprouts ($15). There are also duck sliders with a blackberry chutney and a Southern fried chicken version served with a cheddar waffle and maple bourbon butter. I got a taste of the CBLT; three plump crab cakes topped with crisp bacon, rocket lettuce and plum tomato with a spicy remoulade ($17). They were very tasty and gone in a flash. Other dishes include a Tuscan kale Caesar, fried green tomatoes and Southwest BBQ black bean chili.
The guy behind the concept is "Iron Chef" champ and "Chopped" winner Madison Cowan, who is manning the kitchen.
With a sleek marble bar, Slide is also serving up designer cocktails like the Sliderac made with Bulleit Rye, Peychoud's bitters and tarragon, and the Bleecker Street Daiquiri, a frothy drink made with Bacardi 8, lime, dark agave, egg white and Angostura bitters. Cocktails run $12-$13. There's also a lengthy beer and wine list. Or try one of the adult shakes. Sweet Home Alabama features butter pecan ice cream, candied pecans and whipped cream paired with Jim Beam Bourbon ($11). And while you're at it, cap off your meal with a cannoli courtesy of Anthony Fontana of the Stuffed Artisan Cannoli company. More than enough reasons to slide right in!
