Cititour Review:

So close, yet so far. After hearing about Soju opening on Atlantic Avenue, I was excited by the buzz but left wanting more. Soju is a sweet little restaurant. It's deep red walls, wooden tables, and red candle holders (the kind you might find in a church) give the place a nice feel and a friendly vibe. A beaded curtain in the entrance and a hopping bar adds to the funky feel. An appetizer of "Money" cakes, made with scallions and mushooms, was fabulous. The dish was fresh and vibrant with a delicious plum dipping sauce. But we were less impressed with our entrees. It almost seemed as if we were eating the same meal with different sauces. We found ourselves in front of three large bowls of asian greens and wide rice noodles (which tasted more like egg noodles). One had shrimps, another had chicken, while a third had shrimps, beef and chicken. They were flavored with curry, tamarind and that plum sauce. But the dishes lacked pizzaz. And after a few minutes of sharing each, I for one, felt bored. We left our bowls half filled. The best thing my wife could say about the meal is that it wasn't greasy. But for Soju to survive, it's going to have to do better than that.
