Cititour Review:

Sparky's got its start in Williamsburg and now has a branch in Manhattan. It's on a triangular strip of Lafayette Street that comes to a point, so the shop actually narrows. But, large windows on both sides allow for great people watching. Sparky's uses only organic, antibiotic-free ingredients, or as it puts it, "none of the yucky stuff." Having never eaten a healthy hot dog made from aged beef, this I had to see. The Sparky Dog, named after owner Brian Benavidez's dog, comes steamed so the hot dog is moist, but not soggy. The Sparky Dog ($4) is loaded with chili, cheese, onions and a few strips of bacon. It a great combination, and perfect with a large side of their hand-cut, skin-on white cheddar fries ($3.75). Sparky's also sells burgers and sandwiches, including a grilled cheese with roasted jalapenos ($4.50). Sides include macaroni and cheese ($4) and tomato soup ($4). Sparky's also sells milkshakes and Tang. Sparky's is hip, funky and fun. It would make a great place for a late-night snack. The restaurant is open until midnight most nights (except Sundays).
