Who needs a trip to Greece when you can stop by Spartan Souvlaki. This Dyker Heights favorite now has a new location at 8303 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
We started with some Lucániko (Greek sausage) splashed with lemon that has a smoky flavor like chorizo. Charcoal-grilled octopus called Htapodi could rival any Manhattan establishment and the portion is larger. A Garden salad loaded with fresh Feta cheese was topped with three skewers of marinated pork souvlaki with hints of oregano. My personal favorite was a plate of barbecued pork ribs with meat so tender it fell off the bone. I had to fight my son for a second. A gyro platter came loaded up with meat and fries that could feed a small army. It's served with a tangy tziki sauce. The restaurant also sells lamb chops, pork chops and a rib steak.
The dining room is rather sparse and the accoustics can get quite loud. But for the quality and freshness of the food, who's complaining. Opa!
