Details:

Sushi Kano is a spiffy little sushi bar on the second floor of Whole Foods at Bryant Park just off 42nd Street and 6th Avenue (directly across from the park). While there are only about ten seats available at the bar, there is ample seating in the adjacent communal space, or, get your sushi to go. Starters include edamame and miso soup, with tofu and oyster mushrooms, along with tuna carpaccio with yuzu poke sauce and seafood ceviche with a tomatillo sauce. Sushi can be purchased a la carte ( 2 pc for $6 at the time of this writing). There are signature rolls, like the Big Apple made featuring snow crab, avocado, cucumber, white truffle and honey crisp apple. A full omakase Is offered for $50 ($30 at lunch time), as well as a vegetarian version. We wound up with a cheaper, 12-piece option for twenty bucks that left us with enough money for some Japanese beer. It included a six-piece California roll, 5 pieces of sashimi (including shrimp, Atlantic and sockeye salmon, mackerel and yellowtail), along with a piece of egg soufflé. The fish was first-rate and so was the service. Keep Sushi Kano on you radar when you are in this part of town.
