What do you get when you cross the cultures of Mexico and India - Taco Mahal of course. The restaurant, located on a busy corner near Bleecker Street, is the brainchild of Danikka Josan who has combined a love of tacos with traditional Indian fare. The result is delicious street food. The tacos are served as a Roti (whole wheat flat bread) or Naan (a fluffy flatbread baked in a clay oven). Diners can also choose a Basmati bowl as an options. Each are loaded up with things like Chana Masala, a vegetable stir-fry made with chickpeas onions, tomatoes, ginger and cumin; Chicken Curry, slow-cooked in a spicy curry sauce; Chicken Tikka Masala, chicken marinated in yogurt and served with a sweet and creamy tomato sauce; and Lamb Curry with Indian spices and a sauce made with curry leaves. Other offerings include chips & chutney, vegetarian samosas and onion pakoras.
