Summary:
How about a clam bake high atop New York City with stunning views of the Empire State Bulding and the Chrysler Building? You'll find it June through September at the rooftop restaurant above the Kitano Hotel in Murray Hill.

There are a few catches. The Clam Bake is only for groups of 20 and costs $100 per person (not including tax and tip). But for that hundred bucks you can enjoy a real clam bake on what the hotel affectionately calls "Tar Beach."

There are charcoal grilled littleneck clams and Blue Point oysters, grilled andoulle sausages, chorizo and hot dogs. There also charoal grilled corn on the cob, grilled vegetables and roasted red bliss potatoes. Desserts include sliced melon, fresh berries and key lime pie. Dinner also includes an assortment of beer and sangria.

The hotel also offers a rooftop barbecue for $75 a person, with angus burgers and hot dogs. So who needs to head to the shore with your friends when the shore can come to the city? - Thomas Rafael
