Cititour Review:

Mexican can be a slightly underrated cuisine in New York City. Fortunately for Murray Hill dwellers, a new modern yet undoubtedly authentic hot spot has opened up. Teqa is the destination for delicious Mexican food at an exceptionally reasonable price.

The restaurant is small in size, though now that the summer season has begun, seating has expanded outside. The room maintains a sexy, sleek vibe with a fluid floor plan, black leather chairs, and beautiful chandeliers. Massive candles perpetually drip over the host stand, imbedding a traditional feel into the modernity of the dining room.

Teqa operates under an impressive collection of tequila available for a number of drinks, including a delicious assortment of frozen margaritas. The punch bowls ($52) are a popular way to share some “Happy Days” with a group of friends.

Teqa offers more than just a delicious drink. The Nachos Grande ($13) comes in a huge bowl with all of the appropriate fixings. Quesadillas, tacos, carne and pollo asada pack the menu. The perfectly spicy grilled chipotle shrimp tacos (2 for $13) are my personal favorite. Accompany your tacos (El Ghetto Taco anyone?) with a side of the chorizo saffron fried rice ($8) and you will be glad you indulged in the vibrant flavor.

The moderate prices, friendly and attentive wait staff, and delicious Mexican eats will lure you back time and time again. Teqa has everything south of the border that you desire.
