In Spanish the word turtulia stands for a social gathering. Seamus Mullen, the former chef at Boqueria, is hoping this will soon be your favorite gathering spot. And who wouldn't want to gather here. Inspired by Spain's cider houses, the restaurant features wooden beams, lots of exposed bricks, including brick arches, and dark wooded banquettes and booths providing plenty of old world charm. Your meal begins with a mix of cured meats and cheeses, and tostas smeared with smoked ricotta, marinated mushrooms and pine nuts, or maybe some crab with avocado and pickled peppers. Then move on to the tapas, or small plates. Here you'll find croquettes stuffed with Iberico ham, along with fried artichokes and anchovies with crispy lemons and sage. Grilled clams are served in a txakoli and ham broth with grilled bread. Swordish is served alongside summer squash and citrus. Mullen is also using his wood-fired grill to prepare a 45-day aged prime rib with slow-roasted tomatoes. The menu also features suckling pig with braised Treviso and wild mushrooms. Tertulia promises to be the perfect spot to share a glass of good wine with good friends while enjoying some of the finest Spanish food the city has to offer. - Thomas Rafael
