Named after the color of the giraffe’s tongue, this wine bar in Hell’s Kitchen is known for its exceptional flavors and experiences. Husband-and-wife owners, Peter Cecere and Marni Halasa, and partner Otis Banks offer small bites and shareable plates as well as main courses.

The menu features dishes to share like Fluke Crudo, Wild Mushroom Bruschetta, Meatballs with creamy polenta & roasted Italian peppers, and Grilled Mediterranean Octopus with roasted eggplant puree.  Main courses bring Slow-Roasted Braised Short Ribs with celery root puree; Veal Ragu with pecorino romano; and Fresh Hand Made Cappellacci filled with ricotta & spinach, sauteed in butter & sage; among others.

Brunch is also popular at The Purple Tongue, with a variety of dishes, specialty baked goods and shochu brunch cocktails. A 90-minute Bottomless Brunch upgrade (all cocktails) is available for $25.

The Purple Tongue team is just as passionate about its wines. The wide-ranging selection includes both Old and New World wines; about 30 available by the glass, and double that amount by the bottle. Guests can explore one of several Flights, each consisting of three exciting wines. The restaurant also holds a series of Tasting Events with somms and winemakers to enrich guests' enjoyment.

Vermouths from New York State and from Italy round out the wine list. Guests are encouraged to drink these fortified wines straight up, to enjoy their varied notes.
