Cititour Review:

When it comes to sushi, Tomoe is among the best New York City has to offer. But how long are you willing to wait? The place is small and non-descript. In fact, if it weren’t for the long lines you might even pass it by. But don’t. Even though that might mean waiting a few hours to get a seat. Tomoe rivals some of the city’s top sushi palaces like Nobu, Bond Street and Ruby Foo’s, only it won’t bust your budget. And the fish is super fresh. The yellow tail ($4) is among the best I’ve tasted. The California rolls ($4.75), stuffed with heaps of shredded crab meat and topped with fish roe, are outstanding. And don’t miss the spicy scallop rolls which melt in your mouth. And the list goes on. Tomoe also draws celebrities. We spotted Tony Bennett on our visit getting into a limo with a leggy blonde. The doors open at 5pm for dinner and don’t be surprised to see a line forming. We recommend getting there early or if long lines bum you out there’s always take-out.
