Thop Thai, which has a location on Sullivan Street, can now be found on Carmine Street in the West Village. Executive Chef Supachai Voradirek is known for his homestyle Thai cooking that combines sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy. Look for dishes like grilled skirt steak with "jeaw sauce" made with Thai chilies, chicken satay with peanut sauce, papaya salad with spicy lime dressing and several types of curry. Diners can also choose from different sauces - Pad Kha Pow (basil sauce), Pad Khing (ginger sauce), and Pad Cha (lemongrass) - to go with several types of protein (crispy duck, seafood, beef, chicken and tofu). House specialties include Shrimp Clay Pot with glass vermicelli, Crispy Tamarind Duck and Fried Whole Red Snapper served six different ways. Just look for the motorized rickshaw in the window.
