Cititour Review:
The kitschiest bar in town is also, without a doubt, the most unique. The Trailer Park Lounge stands out amongst the dark, ultra-sexy and unbelievably hip rooms that dominate the New York nightlife scene. Yet the Trailer Park Lounge shines brightly. Its colored Christmas lights blanketing the ceiling, illuminating a portrait of Elvis, photos of somebody's poodle and plastic dolls. The atmosphere is truly one-of-a-kind.
The 22 seater is cozy at best, yet it operates perfectly on the policy of "hillbilly clutter", complete with its own actual trailer strung with orange party lights. All of this across from the only bar, the Tacky Tiki bar, serving up deliciously cold beers and their best known cocktail, giant pitchers of flavored margaritas, my favorite being the fruity mango. Or pop open a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon on that country budget. All beers are around $6.50.
Though the food may be 'greasy spoon cuisine', it's delicious fare and as surprisingly scrumptious as the Lounge is a great time (Even Dolly Parton herself would agree!). The Trailer Park arguably makes the best sweet potato fries I've ever tried; sweet and crispy, served up in a plastic basket and wax paper. The burgers, even the veggie, are blanketed with rich cheese and sizzled to perfection. They taste as if they came straight from the back-yard grill with loads of flavor and big bite! Come hungry, portions are massive. Nobody walks away with an empty stomach.
Sit down and stay awhile because a party at the Trailer Park Lounge could get wild. You don't want to miss out!
