Cititour Review:

The British have arrived at UKNEWYORK. Located near City Hall, in Tribeca, this English-style pub is one of several new establishments helping to revitalize lower Manhattan, and proving once again the Brits are our true allies. The place is warm and inviting with a long wooden bar up front, British beers on tap and a friendly Scottish bartender. The food is your traditional pub fare and some fancier dishes. But even a simple burger is served with style. The UK New York burger looks more like a giant meatball, made with diced onion and stilton ( a type of blue cheese) which gives it a bit of a bite. It's served on what looks like focacchia bread with a tasty horseradish sauce on the side. They'll even supply homemade ketchup that might make the folks at H.J. Heinz worry a bit. Golden browned potatoes and fresh salad greens round out the meal, that along with a pint of Hoegaarden, came in at under $20. You'll find other English treats on the menu like Mini Yorkies ($9), roast beef and horseradish baked in a savory yorkshire batter. There's also Beef Wellingon ($27) and Barnsley Chops, grilled lamb chops marinated with rosemary and served atop the day's mash. Then there's something called "Toad in the Hole," prime Cumberland sausages wrapped in bacon and served in a yorkshire batter with a stout gravy. Vegetarians will welcome dishes like Wild Mushrooms in a creamy English mustard sauce ($16) and Roasted Vegetables with Brie ($17). The dessert menu includes an English Trifle, Rhubarb Crumble and something known as "Spotted Dick," a steamed sponge pudding studded with dark chocolate and topped with lashings of golden syrup and English custard.. Just don't ask for that last one too loudly. You never know what might show up in New York!
