Details: Uogashi is a wonderful spot if you are in search of traditional Tokyo-style omakase in Manhattan. The emphasis is on the fish, all of which is imported from Japan, including some rare varieties. That is where it draws it name, Uogashi, which in Japanese means "fish market." Diners can order a la carte or take advantage of the omakase menu. There are three offerings; Hana ($135), Tori ($95) and Chef's Take Special ($175) which requires a reservation. You will do well with Tori which includes appetizers (grilled fish and snail), Chawanmushi (egg custard), 9 pieces of sushi (yellowtail, toro, scallop, shrimp and more), hand roll, sea urchin & salmon roe cocktail, miso soup with clams, and dessert (scoop of matcha ice cream). Everything presented to us was stunning and delicious. Pristine fish, masterfully prepared in a welcoming atmosphere, you really can't ask for more.
