Whole Foods is now calling Brooklyn home with this sprawling market on the Gowanus Canal. The market is also serving as a model of self sufficiency with rows of solar panels and windmills, while greenhouses, by Gotham Greens, will provide fresh pesticide-free produce year round. Inside, you will find lots of fresh fish, cheeses, a "Fine Cuts" meat market, all sorts of natural products, many locally sourced, and fresh cut flowers. On an upper level, with an outdoor deck, is The Roof, a restaurant and tap room serving things like ale-glazed ribs, maple sriracha wings and chorizo cheese fries. They also have an assortment of salads, burgers and dogs, along with pies from Four & Twenty Blackbird, and a number of craft beers on tap. - Thomas Rafael
