Details: A new yakitori spot in NoMad, called nonono, is turning up the industrial chic in this bi-level space. Littles spheres dangle from a concrete ceiling offering a bit of light and warmth. Counter seating faces an open kitchen, while upstairs, a narrow catwalk leads to additional dining spaces and a private booth. The menu features a lengthy list of yakitori skewers. Two of our favorites include prime rib with onion, and chicken with a spicy peanut sauce called Ban Ban-Ji. Other offerings include head-on prawn, chicken with lime-cilantro, and deep fried tofu with miso mayo. Dig deeper and you will find larger plates of duck over fermented miso scallions, grilled pork jowl with marinated kombu sheets, tuna sashimi with fresh jalapeno sauce, steamed Hemaguri clams with butter & truffle oil, and chicken wings with pork dumpling stuffing. Cocktails include Basil with basil, strawberry and nigroni sake; Kyuri with cucumber, lemon, mint and gin; and Daikon with radish, yuzu and plum wine. Service is extremely friendly and attentive. For a night out, nonono is a big yes yes yes. Neighborhood: NoMad Payment: Accepts Credit Cards |
