Cititour Review:

The notion that vegetarian and veganism is equated with a clean and healthy palate as well as lifestyle is not lost on the folks at 'sNice. It is evident from their delicious fare down to the decor. Enter either their Brooklyn or West Village cafes and you will find young, health-conscious city-dwellers clustered around bare wooden tables, enjoying the world's most difficult find: an amazing vegetarian sandwich.

I've always been skeptical of vegetarian sandwiches, as more times than not I'm served a pathetic pile of slimy 'grilled' veggies clearly crafted by a carnivore. I assumed sandwiches would be for meat-lovers forever until I came across 'sNice. Chalked up on the gigantic blackboard menu above the counter are meat-free sandwiches galore, more than half being vegan, stuffed with substitutes like tofu and tempeh. The combination in between those two slices of bread are creative and inspiring, like the sushi sandwich with tofu, avocado, nori, pickled ginger and a wasabi mayo. The sesame 'chicken' wrap is an all-around favorite with Thai salad to give it a satisfying crunch and an addictive spicy peanut sauce I would drink if they offered it. My go-to favorite requires no vegan substitutes with gobs of creamy Brie, slices of pear, arugula and a raspberry vinaigrette between two crusts of dusty fresh bread; the perfect balance of savory and sweet.

Wash it all down with some of their organic, fair trade coffee or a refreshing tea like apricot or lemon verbena. On a cool day indulge in one of their rich and creamy mugs of hot chocolate, complete with vegan marshmallows. From drink to sandwich to the under $10 price tag, 'sNice feels like it was conscientiously designed with you and our little planet in mind.

'sNice? I'm thinking more like 'sAwesome.
