The New York Islanders were founded in 1972 and have played their entire existence at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. Like the New York Knicks and New York Mets they have the color scheme of Blue, Orange and White. From 1980-83 the Islanders won 4 straight Stanley Cups which are all that they have won in their teams history. That feat is the last time that an NHL team has been able to win 4 straight Stanley Cup titles.

Since 1972, Nassau Coliseum became a decrepit place to play and there was a vote to build a new stadium to keep the team in Long Island. On August 1st, 2011, the vote was rejected and the Islanders would be forced to move away from the home that they’ve always known. The good news for their fan base is that in 2015 they will be relocating to the nearby Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York which will most likely rejuvenate a fan base that has not had much to cheer for in recent years.
