Lamalo does lunch with a modern Middle Eastern bento box filled with choice of one skewer, dips, salads and spreads. Skewer choices include mushrooms with sage butter, shrimp with a lemon chili glaze, octopus with preserved lemon ($5 extra), and spicy lamb kafta. It comes with sides of jasmine rice with herbs and pine nuts, and mejadara made with lentils and bulgur wheat.

Orange Glou, NYC’s first wine bar pop up devoted solely to skin contact wines, is launching with a kick-off party on Monday, October 28 from 7-11pm. Orange wines are made with white grapes where the juice stays in contact with the skins creating hues ranging from a golden color to dark orange. Wines from 20 producers will be available. The event is being held at Fig 13, 131 Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side. $22 per person.

Afternoon teas are becoming popular again. Grand Seoul is serving up SuJeongGwa, a fruity and spicy traditional Korean dessert tea; Shoo Shoo's is offering Moroccan Mint tea, a signature beverage at the Mediterranean spot in Nolita; and For those looking for a little kick to their afternoon tea, Fish Cheeks’ Thai Breaker cocktail brings together classic Thai tea with High West Bourbon, Pineapple Juice, and Lemon Juice for a tropical twist.

Brooklyn Cider House in BOOshwick to get into the spooky spirit on Halloween. It’s offering seasonal drinks (including a frozen Spiced Pumpkin Chai-tini ), Halloween décor, scary movies and more on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 12pm-10pm. Anyone in costume will receive a free cider catch straight from the massive 80-year old cider barrels with any purchase. Halloween film favorites will be screening in the Taproom starting at 6pm.

Dead or Alive: The Science of Creepy - NY Hall of Science Celebrates Halloween with things like DIY Prosetheic wounds made from chocolate or make your own vial of blood. There will also be Halloween demonstrations and costume making workshops. Oct 26 & 27 from10am to 6pm. Tickets are $16 for adults; $13 for children.
