NYC restaurants helping hospital workers

New York City Restaurants are stepping up to help hospital workers. Fields Good Chicken is is donating complimentary meals to medical workers throughout NYC.

Fields Good Chicken says it is reaching out to hospitals like Mount Sinai, NYU Langone Emergency, NYU Langone General, Avantus Renal Therapy, Columbia Presbyterian, and NYU Laboratory to coordinate deliveries of chicken, sides, and more. They can feed up to 120 medical workers a day.

Fields Good Chicken’s 12th + University location is also open for carry-out and delivery. Director of Culinary, Dan Jackson, is coming up with new specials (like a chicken patty melt) and the team will launch a Family Meal package next week, which can feed 4-5 people (or is great for leftovers) including: choice of chicken, three sides, side salad, cornbread and sauces.

Sweetcatch Poke says it is currently delivering free poke bowls to all Manhattan hospitals, including Harlem Hospital Pediatric Emergency Room, NYU Langone, Weill-Cornell/New York Presbyterian and Mount Sinai Beth Israel and want to get the word out so that other care workers can take advantage.

Sweetcatch is also offering free poke bowls at their four store locations (information below) to healthcare workers, with proof of medical ID. Sweetcatch is committed to keeping NYC hospital workers fed safely and is reaching out on social, but as mentioned, is looking for more ways to reach additional hospitals.

Sea Wolf (19 Wyckoff Ave) in Bushwick issued this statement: "Wyckoff Hospital team + first responders, call us for the daily $10 special as a thank you for your hard work. Let us know when you'll be by and we'll meet you outside!" The restaurant is also offering curbside delivery for its updated takeout menus, including cocktails, frozen drinks and beer.

Also in food news...

Wayan (20 Spring St) says it is taking steps to feed the community and keep its staff safe. It's offering a special menu for takeout Wednesday through Sunday from 2pm-8pm with curbside pickup via Caviar. It includes small plates like cucumber mango salad, and Soto Ayam (chicken soup wiht vermicelli and poached egg) and larger plates like Lobster Noodle and Crispy Baby Back Pork Ribs with a tamarind glaze. Wayan has also started a Go Fund Me page for its workers.

Einstein Bagels is launching family meals like the Hot & Ready Brunch Box. It includes includes six fresh-baked bagels, one tub of shmear, three egg sandwiches cut in half (one Farmhouse, two Bacon & Cheddar), four blueberry muffins and four twice-baked hash browns. They are also offering Take & Make Bagel Kits, including one for "pizza" bagels as a fun activity for the kids to help give parents a break.
