Around Town - Anthony Bourdain Pop-Up and more...

Time Out Market DUMBO is open again after shutting down for the pandemic. Diners can choose to eat in or take their food out to a courtyard with picnic tables stationed outside. There are ten eateries to start with more to follow. They include Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors, Felice Pasta Bar, Ivy Stark, Jacob’s Pickles and Sugar Hill Creamery.
Queens Night Market is also back in action. The market reopens Jun 19 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. There are close to 50 vendors, including Twisted Potato, Grilla in Manila, Don Ceviche and Treat Yourself Jerk Chicken to name a few. Saturday’s 4pm to Midnight through Sept 25th.
Uncle Win’s Food Truck has debuted near 32nd Street in Koreatown. We stopped by for some duck-filled spring rolls which were quite wonderful. Also on the menu, Roast Spareribs in Honey Sauce, Thai Pork Chop Rice, Grilled Eel Over Rice, Pan-Fried Dumplings and more.
Roadrunner, a film about the late Anthony Bourdain, is set to be released next month. In celebration, there will be a Brasserie Les Halles pop-up in honor of where Bourdain began his culinary career. The pop-up is taking place at 411 Park Avenue South (at 28th St) from July 9th to 11th. The film hits theaters on July 16th. Tickets go on sale June 22 for Amex holders and June 24 for the general public. The cost is $95 for a three-course prix fixe menu which will include classic French onion soup, steak frites with au poivre sauce, and choice of dessert. The doorman is back at Beauty & Essex on the Lower East Side and so are the beautiful people who hang out there.
Bagel Boss is replacing Oddfellows on Houston Street.
A few blocks away, Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream, also on Houston, is now offering burgers, fries and pies with its frosty treats.
In Times Square, A series of flags are on display in an exhibition entitled How I Keep Looking Up by Christine Wong Yap. The flags, made by seniors, address the challenges the city is facing after COVID.
