Bar Americano is a new aperitvo bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn inspired by ones found throughout Spain and Northern Italy. It is led by industry veterans Steve Kämmerer (Moloko), Conor Hynes (The Gray Mare), and David Clarke (Jungle Bird). The U-shaped bar topped with grey Brazilian quartz takes center stage, seating up to 14 guests.
Bar Americano is offering two versions of its namesake drink on tap (Americano Classico and Americano Bianco), both made in-house. Other highlights include the House Martini, a classic Negroni and a dedicated Spritz menu showcasing wines from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Croatia. A selection of low intervention, natural wines from small producers throughout Europe is also available. Ashort but curated beer list showcases local brews from Talea Beer Co., Other Half Brewing, and Evil Twin Brewing.
A menu of snacks and small bites bring Fried Marcona Almonds; Cured & Pickled Cantabrian Anchovies; Beau Soleil Oysters, Black Sausage Croquettes with aioli, and a Cheeseburger. For something sweet, there is Lemon Sorbet with Limoncello meringue and a Chocolate Tarte.
Located inside Greenpoint’s landmarked Astral Apartments, the corner space is inspired by Europe’s traditional aperitivo bars with custom-built banquettes wrapped in light brown leather, as well as two spacious booths for larger groups and standing rails. Additional design elements include brass accents, mirrors, and stained glass.
Bar Americano is located at 180 Franklin Street in Brooklyn, New York (347) 457-5436.
