The East Village just scored a buzzy new watering hole, and it’s already turning heads. Say hello to Bar Snack, the brainchild of acclaimed bartender Iain Griffiths and Brooklyn bar mogul Oliver Cleary, the team behind neighborhood favorites like Minnow’s and Common Mollie’s. Nestled on Second Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets, this spot is putting a flirty spin on the classic neighborhood bar with fast drinks, bold snacks, and zero pretension.

Don’t expect overly precious cocktails here. Bar Snack keeps it quick and fun with drinks on tap, frozen cocktails, and their signature “snaquiri”—a seasonal daiquiri available by the glass, pitcher, or yes, even a snack-sized version. Highlights from the cheeky menu include the Big Twea Energy, a passionfruit twisted tea cooler, and the Phish Food Old Fashioned, which riffs on the famous ice cream flavor with bourbon, whiskey, and fluff syrup. Prefer something stronger? Try the Cowboy Big Mouth, a Manhattan variation with dry coconut and plum.

The bar’s vibe is as lively as the drinks. Griffiths and Cleary designed the space to feel both familiar and fresh, with a mustard-and-peach tiled bar, glittery orange vinyl stools, and lime green velvet seating. Cheeky touches like playful window art by Doug Aldrich and graphics by Kisira Hill bring extra personality to the 50-seat spot.

“We wanted to create a bar that feels like it’s for everyone,” says Griffiths, a seasoned industry pro who’s worked at some of the world’s top cocktail spots. “Bar Snack is all about good drinks, great snacks, and a fun atmosphere where people want to hang out again and again.”

The bar’s full food menu launches in January, but early offerings will be rolling out by December. Expect bold bites like Cool Ranch Deviled Eggs topped with chicken skin, Peanut Butter Noodles with chili crunch, and a Lamb Kofta Sandwich with sumac mayo.

Bar Snack is now open seven days a week from 2 p.m. Walk-ins only, so grab your crew, snag a snaquiri, and see what all the buzz is about.
