Carriage House's Bread Service Comes with a Candle Made of Butter

Carriage House is opening its doors. The restaurant located in Greenwich Village is led by renowned chef Jordan Andino, who has worked in such highly acclaimed kitchens as French Laundry and Spago. This is Ardino’s first full-service restaurant since opening Flip Sigi, a Mexican mini-chain with locations in New York, New Jersey and Chicago. He is also the host of the Netflix show ‘Cook at all Costs.’

Andino is joined by partner and hospitality veteran Philip Testa (Tao Group) who together helped bring the project to life with the help of some high-profile backers including New York Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba, MC and The Roots Tariq “BlackThought” Trotter, The Bachelor's Dale Moss and Southern Charm's Austen Kroll and Craig Conover.

Inspiration for the menu and design comes from the space itself, a former police carriage house dating back to the 1800s. The restaurant is serving up globally-inspired dishes seen through a New York lens. Chef Andino is also showcasing his fine-dining French technique and ingredients familiar to his Filipino roots.

Dinner begins with complimentary bread service and a coveted ‘butter candle.’ As the seasonal butter candle melts guests are encourage to dip their house focaccia into it and enjoy. There is also an introductory bite to start the meal called Pomme Pavé made with thinly sliced layers of Yukon gold potatoes served with the customer’s choice of toppings, including tuna, scallop, salmon tartare, steak and mushroom.

Other standouts includes the Peri Peri Bird, a half roasted chicken marinated for 36 hours. It is served with short grain rice and a butter cream au jus, Wagyu Skirt Steak prepared with pomme casserole topped with au poivre sauce, and Lobster Maccheroni Al Torchino, a pasta dish with chili and lemon garnished with sourdough crumbs and pecorino. For dessert, there is Salted Caramel Tres Leches with mascarpone whipped cream.

The well-designed space features a full bar with cobalt blue seats, globe lights and wide-plank floors. Elegant archways separate dining spaces and partially-open kitchen. Carriage House is located at 142 West 10th Street, New York, New York. For more information, visit https://www.chnyc.com
