Chickenhawk, a collaboration between business partners Chen Zeev (tech entrepreneur) and Josh Applebaum (Duck Season) is now roosting in the heart of Greenwich Village.
The 16-seat eatery offers Nashville-Style Hot Chicken (which will remain a staple on the menu) with Hawksauce and pickles, as well as a monthly, globally-inspired menu showcasing a local chef. The lead off dish is Persian Fried Chicken (Persian spiced-infused oil, feta cheese dressing, and pickled red onion) courtesy of Chef Einat Admony of Balaboosta.
The fried chicken can be ordered as a sandwich or jumbo nuggets as a “combo” with fries and drink. Gravy & Fries is also available. Guests can also choose their heat level: No Heat (Sweet/Sour/Salty), Mild (Guajillo Pepper), Medium (Cayenne), Hot (Habanero), Extra Hot (Ghost Pepper), or Dumb Ass (Carolina Reaper). For something sweet, there’s Banana “Pudding” made with Diplomat cream, sliced fresh bananas, and torched Italian meringue.
Upcoming chef collabs include: Indonesian Fried Chicken (courtesy of Chef Wulan Del Valle of UrbanHawker’s Jakarta Munch); Portuguese Fried Chicken (courtesy of Chef Nuno Sousa of Leitao); Vegan Fried “Chicken” (courtesy of Chef Daniel Strong of Chickpea and Olive), and Birria-style Fried Chicken (courtesy of Chef Kim Flammia of Chofi Tacos y Birria).
Chickenhawk is located at 319 6th Avenue (West 3rd St), NYC (646) 351-6208
