Crave Sushi Bar is luring visitors to its Midtown location with its inventive menu and interesting cocktails. Located next door to its sister restaurant, Crave Fish Bar, this new sushi spot is offering a selection of small and large sushi rolls, naked sushi & sashimi and dressed nigiri in a lively setting.
Start with briny Kimamoto Oysters served with a sake mignonette and hatch green chilies. Asian influences are found in many of the dishes, like Salmon Crispy Rice with yuzu, gochujang, avocado and dill, and Rock Shrimp Tempura with a yuzu aioli.
Crave Sushi Bar makes a point to highlight domestic fish from sustainable sources while partnering with the James Beard Foundation. Among the “Naked Sushi,” diners will find sea bream, local fluke, Faroe Island salmon and bluefin tuna o-toro prominently featured. “Dressed” options include the popular Local Scallop with brown butter, lemon and sea salt, Salmon Roe with crème fraiche and white balsamic, and Santa Barbara Uni with miso powder, among others.
Kona Kampachi, found among the “Dressed” sashimi features thinly-sliced fish swimming in yuzu kosho tom yum with crispy garlic bits and charred serrano chilies on top. There is also Bigeye Tuna Wasabi prepared with Persian cucumber, Asian pear and radish in a wasabi-soy vinaigrette.
Cravable cocktails include the Crave Chu-Hai with vodka, sake and yuzu shrub; Noh Name with Iwai whisky, Luxardo Maraschino and cynar; and the aqua blue Deep Sea Diver with coconut washed rhum, Agricole, Blue Curaçao and yuzo. Guests will also find a nice assortment of martinis, sake, wine and beer.
Cravable Sushi Bar, located at 947 2nd Ave (Nr 50th St), New York, NY. For more information visit cravesushibar.com
