Melba’s is making waves at Grand Central Terminal with its Southern cooking and catfish on the go. The iconic Harlem-born comfort food spot, led by Chef Melba Wilson, is now serving commuters and tourists alike with a menu full of soulful classics—no Metro-North ticket required.
We stopped by to try the Country Catfish, available as a sandwich or a full meal, and were genuinely wowed. The catfish arrived hot and crispy, with a light, flaky interior and plenty of seasoning. On the side? A hearty scoop of maple sweet potatoes and deeply flavorful low country collard greens—exactly the kind of stick-to-your-ribs comfort food you don’t expect to find in a train terminal. The portion was generous, the flavors on point, and the staff warm and helpful, making the whole experience feel like a Midtown moment of Southern hospitality.
Melba’s Grand Central also features favorites like Chicken & Eggnog Waffles (which she beat Bobby Flay with in a Throwdown), a CLT sandwich with fried chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomato, and the fan favorite Tres Mac & Cheese.
Whether you’re dashing for a train or just hungry in the heart of the city, Melba’s is serving comfort food worth slowing down for.
