Crispy Heaven, the cult-favorite SoHo bakery known for its award-winning baguettes, has moved into a larger, sunlit space at 222 Lafayette Street, just around the corner from Jack’s Wife Freda. After outgrowing its original Grand Street location, the bakery reopened this month, welcoming carb lovers to its new home.

Owner and baker Fel Cassieli, a former lingerie model turned bread maestro, continues to churn out golden, crispy baguettes—her signature loaf, which snagged the 2024 Best Baguette New York award, impressing a jury that included Dorie Greenspan and Gabriel Kreuther. The menu also features walnut, olive, and potato caraway sourdough, Danish-style rye, and rugbrød, alongside breakfast treats like German apple crumb cake and brioche French toast.

Crispy Heaven’s daytime menu is stacked with decadent, bread-forward offerings, from house-made spreads to stacked sandwiches like grass-fed short rib with caramelized onions. Cassieli, who taught herself to bake after noticing a lack of European-style bakeries in NYC, started by feeding crowds of friends out of her own oven before opening her first shop. Now, customers line up for warm bacon rolls with farm-fresh eggs, chocolate cake slices, and—coming soon—a dinner menu featuring house-made pizza.

With locals already flocking to the new space, Crispy Heaven is proving once again that SoHo can’t get enough of Cassieli’s creations.
