Farm to People has opened its first eatery in Bushwick called Farm to People Kitchen & Bar (1100 Flushing Ave). The menu features consciously grown food from 150 farms primarily located within 300 miles of New York City and delivered to the table within days of picking.

Menu options include the Sumac Smash Burger made with Happy Valley Meat Co. pasture-raised ground beef with caramelized & fresh onions, house-made pickles, & celery dijonnaise on a Bread Alone brioche bun; Little Gem Salad with Lancaster Farms Gem Lettuce, Hawthorne Valley Biodynamic Buttermilk & everything bagel-seasoned She Wolf sourdough crumble; and Yuzu Tarragon Potato Salad with fingerling potatoes & spring peas dressed in yuzu kosho tarragon mayo and upcycled pea shell chiffonade.

Chef Matthew Yee is leading the kitchen. Yee hails from some of New York City’s top restaurants, Mena & One White Street, and has a deep background in sustainable agriculture from his time at UMass Amherst and working on upstate New York farms.

The restaurant is also hosting wine tastings as well as discussions with food pioneers such as Dan Barber and Irving Fain and events with organizations like Clean Bushwick Initiative and Zero Waste NYC.
