Father and Son Team Behind Congee Village Open Dim Sum House

The father and son owners of the popular Congee Village restaurants in Chinatown and Flushing, Peter Liang and Ricky Liang, have just opened their third location: Congee Dim Sum House in the Bowery. The restaurant is serving an extensive dim sum menu as well as Congee Village classics. There are two large dining rooms as well as private spaces where guests can enjoy dinner and karaoke.
The Liangs are known for their authentic Cantonese cuisine at the original restaurant at 100 Allen Street and later introduced Dim Sum to their their Flushing location. The new Bowery space is offering 37 dim sum options which are served all day.
Offerings include Pork Soup Dumplings, Chicken & Shrimp Siu Mai, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Spare Ribs with Pumpkin, Black Pepper Short Ribs, Fried Mushroom Spring Rolls, and Chicken Feet with black bean sauce, among others. Most of the small plates are in the $5-$8 range.
Rice noodle rolls can also be found filled with shrimp, vegetables, beef and BBQ pork. . Dessert options include the traditional Osmanthus Cake, Egg Tarts, Pineapple Buns, Natural Bird Nest with Rock Candy and adorable Piggy Lava Buns filled with egg custard.
A menu of Cantonese dishes that Congee Village popularized is also offered, including an extensive selection of signature congee (porridges), like Lobster with Sticky Rice; Pan-fried Lamb Chops with peppers and onions, Honey Walnut Jumbo Shrimp with broccoli and walnuts, and an abundance of fish and seafood options, as well as specialty items such as abalone, sea cucumber, birds nest, fish maw, Dungeness and blue crab, frogs and more.
