If you didn't know any better, you would think you were entering an Old World bar.  Only this spot just opened inside Rockefeller Center. Smith & Mills joins other fashionable food experiences at nearby Naro, Jupiter, 5 Acres, 21 Greenpoint and the Tipsy Baker.

Restaurateurs Akiva Elstein and Matthew Abramcyk have created a vibrant, timeless environment to enjoy innovative cocktails, oysters and Mediterranean-influenced small plates. After sixteen years, they are bringing the downtown energy of Smith & Mills to Rockefeller Center’s Rink Level, with an expanded raw bar selection and a private dining room.

Aside from the raw bar with exquisitely fresh oysters and plump shrimp, diners will find other interesting options. Look for things like Kampachi with apple, brown butter and sturgeon caviar; Scallop with uni, ponzu and black truffle; a Smoked Fish Platter, and the Ploughman's Plate with English chedder, duck liver mousse, fig chutney and pickles.

The same keen interest in Bauhaus and Constructivism and reverence for industry and design remain, serving as continued inspiration for a restaurant that brings something new while paying respect to the past. Centered around a stunning oblong bar, the space is encircled with lush velvet banquettes to encourage lingering over classic cocktails and conversation.

Drinks here truly shine. Cocktails include the Cosmo Royale with Meyer Lemon Vodka, Contreau, Lime, Cocchi Amreicano Roso and Champagne; The El Segundo with Lalo Blanco Tequila, Pamplemousse, Hibiscus. Dolin Blanc, Lime and Rosemary salt; and One More, That's It with Old Forester Bourbon, El Dorado 8 Year Rum, Amero Meletti and Mole Bitters; among others.

Smith & Mills’ soft lighting and turn-of-the-century details transport diners to a place faraway – that already feels like home.  The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner and late-night drinks, with lunch to follow.
