The Grayson Hotel is the newest destination for dining and drinks in New York City led by award-winning hospitality group Apicii. They include Harta, a Mediterranean Brasserie, led by chief culinary officer Jonathan Benno who earned a Michelin star at his namesake restaurant, Benno, and executive chef Mark Zuckerman, formerly of Benno and L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon. The hotel also houses a rooftop destination called Bar Cima.
At Harta, visitors can expect an immersive escape with a palate of deep greens and plums along with lavish plantlife, flower prints and a custom mural of a Mediterranean sunset.
The meal begins with small plates to share. Think Charred Eggplant with mint and smoked olive oil; Mixed Chicories with Rogue Creamery smokey blue dressing; Tuna Crudo with roasted pepper, hazelnut, green onion and lemon; Shrimp a la Plancha cooked in a garlic-lemon sauce; Salt Cod Croquettes, and Lamb Ribs with black garlic and serrano peppers; among others.
Larger plates bring Braised Pekin Duck, Black Angus Sirloin with peppercorn crust and fingerling potatoes, Chicken Tagine with preserved orange, saffron and rice & vermicelli pilaf, and Black Bass with artichokes and fennel in a vadouvan broth.
For a sweet finish, there is chocolate almond torte, buttermilk panna cotta and a pistachio soft serve sundae with hazelnuts, whipped cream and cocoa nibs, topped with Amarena cherries.
“Spirited” and “Light Hearted” cocktails are also served. They include Blackberry with vodka, blackberry, Olosoro Sherry and Lillet Rose, Espresso with Tequila, Mr. Black Coffee, and espresso, and Piña made with a house rum blend, pineapple, Velvet Falernum and lime.
Also at the Grayson, perched atop the 28th floor with direct views of the Empire State Building and both the East and Hudson Rivers, is Bar Cima (above), a seductive rooftop getaway and mezcaleria featuring an extensive collection of mezcals, tequilas and other agave spirits. And don’t forget those killer views.
Harta and Bar Cima can be found at the Grayson Hotel, 30 W 39th St, New York, NY
