Honoring the Flavors of Singapore and Malaysia in New York City

Singapore and Malaysia, two of the top culinary capitals of Asia are celebrating important milestones in the month of August with Singapore heralding National Day on August 9th (57th anniversary); and Malaysia celebrating 65-years of independence on August 31st. To celebrate, several NYC resstaurants care crafted culinary treats to mark the milestones.
LAUT Restaurant (15 East 17th St, NYC)
The award-winning Southeast Asian inspired eatery is showcasing a Singapore National Day-inspired set menu, featuring four-courses replete with a champagne or prosecco welcome drink. Featured dishes on the set menu include nasi lemak and Singapore’s legendary Hokkien Mee. The meal is priced at $57 per person (to signify Singapore’s 57th birthday), excluding taxes and gratuities. LAUT will also offer a Malaysia Independence Day-inspired set menu featuring four courses and a champagne or prosecco welcome drink. Featured dishes on the set menu include beef rendang and mee goreng. Priced at $65 per person, excluding gratuities and taxes, to signify Malaysia’s 65th Independence Day. The set menu will be available from August 24th through August 31st

Singapura (31 East 20th St, NYC)
What better way to celebrate Singapore’s National Day with a Singaporean National Day tasting menu featuring a welcome cocktail drink or prosecco; five-courses and dishes such as satay (choice of chicken or beef); choice of a hawker noodle dish; Singapore pepper crab or chili crab; and a heavenly durian sundae. Singlish (17 East 13th St, NYC)
The hidden Singapore craft cocktail bar tucked away above of delivery/take-out joint; Chard in Union Square will be offering a special cocktail tasting menu to toast Singapore’s birthday. Priced at $80 per person excluding gratuities and taxes, the cocktail menu will feature four cocktails infused with made in Singapore spirits (think Tanglin Gin) as well as Singlish’s take on the Singapore Sling, and kuih pie tee snacks (a popular Peranakan dish that comes in the shape of a delicate and crispy pastry tart-shaped shell filled with shredded Chinese turnips, sweet mixture of thinly sliced vegetables and prawns)

Wau which features the famed street-food of Asia is also celebrating Singapore National Day with a set menu delivering popular dishes from the Lion City such as roti canai and char koay teow.
