Inside 100 Pearl: A Massive Food Hall in the Financial District

Food Halls are no longer just places to grab a bite. They have morphed into social gathering spaces highlighting New York City eclectic mix of flavors and cultures. From The Market Line to The Hugh to Citizens at Manhattan West, there is now shortage of upscale choices. The addition of 100 Pearl by Urbanspace in FiDi is another welcome addition.

The towering space in the heart of the Financial District features modern architecture with an industrial vibe and just the right amount of greenery to soften it. There is ample table seating and counter space surrounded by well-designed and welcoming food stations.

Plant Junkie is offering 100% plant-based bowls, including Sri Lankan Buddha with Yellow basmati rice, chickpea curry, seitan curry, coconut kale, and crispy papadum; and Bangkok Curry with Peanut noodles, red curry tofu, Thai cabbage slaw, coconut kale, and crispy lotus root.

Pizza Gang is bringing its authentic Roman-style pizza with fresh mozzarella, prosciutto and other ingredients, many from Italian suppliers. The dough recipe is said to be passed on from generations promising to be the “lightest dough you can find.”

Extra Sauce is known for its smash burgers and fried chicken sandwiches served on a potato bun. And of course, there is the extra sauce available in flavors like Miso Cheese, Brooklyn Sauce, Gochujang Aioli, Carrot Ginger Aioli, BBQ Ranch and more.

Bao by Kaya features tantalizing Taiwanese food including assorted baos filled with things like marinated pork belly, shrimp tempura and red curry chicken. The baos are offered in combo plates with choice of spring rolls, dumplings and sesame noodles.

Que Chevere brings the flavors of Puerto Rico to the forefront with traditional dishes like mofungo made with smashed plantains and slow-cooked roasted pork (pernil). Other options include steak (bistec) and sautéed shrimp (camarones). You can also build your own bowls over rice or veggies.
