Mint Bay has arrived in Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge neighborhood. Located at 7508 3rd Avenue, the restaurant blends cozy charm with a touch of elegance. The aqua blue, jewel-toned décor features intricate lattice work and pastel-colored roses lining the ceiling. A sign reads, “Spread Love. It’s the Brooklyn Way!”
That love can be found in the food, as Mint Bay takes diners on a journey to Northern India. Start with flavorful samosas filled with gently spiced potatoes and peas or the crispy kale pakoras, delicately fried to perfection. Mains include comforting vegetarian dishes like channa saag, chickpeas with fresh spinach, and aloo gobi, potatoes and cauliflower with a hint of cumin. For heartier fare, there is creamy chicken tikka masala, fiery chicken vindaloo, and spiced rack of lamb with potatoes and peppers. The tandoori shrimp, grilled with fragrant spices, is a crowd-pleaser.
No Indian meal feels complete without bread, and Mint Bay offers a selection that’s worth lingering over. From the simple, whole-wheat roti to the buttery naan or the garlic- and cheese-filled variations, the breads are as satisfying as the dishes they accompany.
Dessert provides a fitting finale, with gulab jamun—fried dough balls soaked in a sweet syrup—or ras malai, soft paneer in a creamy chilled milk, offering just the right amount of indulgence. Mint Bay is a satisfying addition to the neighborhood.
