La Plaz is bringing the spirit of Mexico City to The Standard, High Line with an installation from Sofia Elías and menu featuring Taqueria Ramirez and La Newyorkina.

The outdoor plaza has been transformed into La Plaz, a Mexico-City inspired food concept featuring Jugando a Jugar, an interactive installation by Mexican artist and designer Sofia Elías, as well as a new Mexican menu with special selections from the cult-favorite Taqueria Ramirez and La Newyorkina.

Translating to “Playing to Play”, Elias’ Jugando a Jugar was inspired by children's playspaces and the challenge of creating settings that encourage the beauty of unplanned action, reaction and interaction.

The grand opening drew an A-List crowd, including Lachlan Watson, Martha Luna, Amber Scott, and John Supnik who enjoyed margaritas, tacos, and gorditas whilst “playing” with the installation’s swings, handles, and bars.

The Standard, High Line will also highlight Elias’s jewelry line, Blobb, and feature a co-branded, limited-edition piece designed for La Plaz that will be available at The Shop. La Plaz will be open from May 13 to September 9 at The Plaza at The Standard, High Line at 848 Washington St in New York City.
